Hi all,
This will likely be our final update on the PiJuice Kickstarter project, so we will not be monitoring the comments so actively. So if you have any further questions please feel free to email us at [email protected]. And thanks again for backing our Kickstarter and for your patience whilst we worked through the issues.
Maker Kit Shipping!
We have some good news...today we shipped all PiJuice Maker Kits out to backers. If you are in the UK you should receive these by Monday. If you are in the EU it will likely take 2 to 4 weeks, and if you are outside the EU it will likely take 2 to 6 weeks. This marks the final shipment of the campaign so we have now, finally, completed the PiJuice Kickstarter shipping...we couldn't be happier! :-)
We really hope you enjoy the maker kits - please do post pictures on our Twitter (https://www.twitter.com/PiSupply) once you start to receive and use the kits.
Just as a reminder, we have a wealth of software, projects and guides for the PiJuice Maker Kits to help get you started with the kits as quickly as possible, as well as to show you some of the cool things you can do:
We hope you like all the guides and that they are useful and give some project inspiration!

You asked, and we delivered! Arriving in the next 2 weeks, we have a brand new battery available for the PiJuice - replacement 1820mAh batteries that fit directly onto the PiJuice HAT. This will allow you to have multiple spare batteries ready and charged for your PiJuice HAT or to replace an old battery.

Hi there PiJuice backers,
Some quick updates for you on Maker Kits and more!
Shipping update
As you know from the last update we have had a delay of the finishing of production and shipping of the Media Center HAT due to the coronavirus. We have now heard back from our manufacturer and they are expecting to have these shipped out to us by the end of March.
Hopefully we can improve on that, but with the situation still developing it is hard to say whether we can.
In any case, we will make sure to ship them as soon as we possibly can and keep you updated on the progress.
PiJuice Maker Kit Pictures
Our photographer, Louis Reed, has been hard at work taking pictures of the new cases etc. Here is a few of them:

Software, videos and guides
Chris has been hard at work building lots of software, projects and guides for the PiJuice Maker Kits to help get you started with the kits as quickly as possible, as well as to show you some of the cool things you can do:
Other guides coming soon (in the next couple of weeks)
We also have two other guides that are featured in the PiJuice User Guide which are not quite yet complete. Chris is working on these as we speak and they should be finished in the next couple of weeks:
We hope you like all the guides and that they are useful and give some project inspiration!

This week we're sharing a special project from the Pixello team!
Pixello is a Raspberry Pi-based scanning machine that swiftly turns you into a full color 3D model for 3D printing or use as a video game avatar. They also use the Pi Supply Pi PoE Switch HAT to reduce cable clutter.
Software and firmware update, maker kit, YouTube channel and more!

Hey all,
We have got a good few developments to share with you about the PiJuice family so putting it all into a little update for you all!
Software and firmware update
This week we have released a fairly major update to our PiJuice firmware and software packages. Thanks mainly to our engineer Milan for the updated firmware and to our good friend Ton (a KS backer and volunteer!) who did most of the work on the software side. Also to Ryan, Chris and others for testing.
The main updates are as follows:
Firmware upgrade to v1.4 (including fixes for i2c issues on Pi 4, fixing fluctuating temperature readings, changed battery profile order, fixed clearing of wake-up flags when using GPIO3 wakeup etc)
Software fixes to deal with reworked battery profile order in firmware
The new v1.6 software is already available in the Raspberry Pi apt repositories. So updating your software is as simple as opening a Terminal window and typing the following commands:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
In the list of software to update, before pressing "y" to confirm, you should see pijuice-base and if you also have the GUI part installed you should see pijuice-gui as well. Once the upgrade command completes, you will have successfully updated your software.
How to update the firmware
The easiest way to update the firmware, is using the built in tools in the PiJuice software. PiJuice Firmware v1.4 is included in the latest v1.6 version of the software, so it is best to update the software (see above heading) before starting this part.
Navigate to the "Firmware" menu tab in either the GUI or CLI tool:
Then it should offer you the new v1.4 firmware - select to update the firmware and let the process complete and you are good to go!! It is as simple as that :-)
If you do not want to or can't upgrade the software but want to upgrade the firmware you can still do so using the CLI/GUI by downloading the file from the link below and then replacing the existing firmware file at the file path /usr/share/pijuice/data/firmware/
Manual installs
If you want to manually install the software or firmware you can find the packages here:
The latest versions are v1.6 for software and v1.4 for firmware.
If you spot any bugs or issues with the new firmware or software we would be grateful if you could post an issue on GitHub here - https://github.com/PiSupply/PiJuice/issues
Maker kit
As you will know from the last update, we have now got the PiJuice Maker Kit cases in stock and ready to ship but were just waiting for the Media Center HATs.
Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus situation in China, our factory has been off work until this week and is now returning on a limited staffing and has quite a backlog. At present, we think that there will be a delay on receiving the boards at least until the middle of March but we do not have an accurate or even estimated date from the supplier yet. We are pushing them for an up to date estimation as we speak and will report back as soon as we know more.
Everything else is ready to go for as soon as these arrive with us.
YouTube channel
Over the last year or so, you may have noticed that we have heavily amplified our output of video content. This is due to Antonio - our video director - joining our team full time last February and working flat out with the rest of the team to create some super useful videos - everything from unboxings to user guides and tutorials.
And if you like what we are doing, we would be super grateful if you would subscribe to us on YouTube.
Here are some videos that might be of particular interest:
New PiJuice boards coming soon
You may remember a while ago that we mentioned PiJuice Data and PiJuice mPCIe. We have had a few people asking us when these might be available, as they are keen to make use of the data capabilities of these new products.
The good news is, we are aiming to launch these this year. We do not know exactly when but we are working on a few things behind the scenes and as soon as we are a bit closer to launch we will share more details about these new products.
